Starting your project

No Tech Pack? You Can Still Start Your Activewear Project

A complete tech pack is helpful, but it is not the only way to begin. YIDI Clothing can review the information you already have and turn it into a clear sampling brief for custom yoga wear, gym apparel and performance activewear.

Your project can start from a complete tech pack, reference images, a physical sample or a clearly described product idea. Before sampling, our development team identifies the missing information and confirms the fabric direction, fit, construction, branding and expected order requirements.

Fabric development

How We Select the Right Fabric for Each Activewear Product

The right activewear fabric is not selected by fiber composition alone. We review fabric weight, four-way stretch, recovery, opacity, surface finish, support level, moisture management and durability before recommending a material for sampling.

A fabric that works well for soft yoga leggings may not provide the structure required for a sports bra or the durability needed for gym shorts. Product design, pattern construction and fabric performance must therefore be reviewed together.

What We Check Before Sampling

Before recommending a fabric, we review the factors that affect movement, coverage, support, comfort and long-term garment performance.

Fabric Weight

Balances coverage, structure and wearing comfort.

Four-Way Stretch

Supports movement in multiple directions without restricting the body.

Stretch Recovery

Helps the garment return to shape after stretching and repeated wear.

Opacity & Coverage

Reduces transparency when the fabric is stretched during movement.

Surface & Hand Feel

Defines whether the fabric feels smooth, brushed, cool or structured.

Support Level

Matches the required compression and stability of the product.

Moisture Management

Supports sweat transfer, drying comfort and active use.

Durability

Considers pilling, abrasion, washing and long-term shape retention.

Fabric Priorities by Product Type

Each activewear product requires a different balance of coverage, stretch, support, comfort and durability. We match the fabric direction to the garment structure, intended activity and target customer.

For yoga leggings, we prioritize opacity under stretch, balanced four-way stretch, reliable recovery, a soft hand feel and stable waistband performance.

Pricing logic

What Determines the Cost of Custom Activewear?

The cost of custom activewear is determined by six connected factors: fabric, style and pattern, construction, order quantity, branding, and labels and packaging.

Two products that look similar in a photograph can have different costs once the fabric quality, pattern complexity, stitching method, functional details, logo process and quantity per color are reviewed.

Fabric

Composition, weight, color, finishing and performance requirements.

Style & Pattern

Panel count, grading, compression zones and structural complexity.

Construction

Seam methods, pockets, zippers, cups and adjustable components.

Order Quantity

Quantity per style and color, size range and fabric minimums.

Branding

Logo method, placement quantity, artwork and special effects.

Labels & Packaging

Labels, hangtags, barcode stickers, bags and custom boxes.

Why Similar Activewear Can Have Different Costs

Similar-looking products may require very different materials, machines, setup processes and quality-control checkpoints.

Comparison of lower and higher development complexity in custom activewear manufacturing

Streamlined development

Lower Development Complexity

Stock fabric, standard construction, one logo placement and simple packaging usually require fewer development and production processes.

  • Stock or readily available fabric
  • Simple pattern and standard seams
  • One logo placement
  • Standard labels and polybag

Additional development stages

Higher Development Complexity

Custom-dyed fabric, complex patterns, functional construction, multiple branding processes and custom packaging require additional materials, setup and quality control.

  • Custom colors or multiple materials
  • Panels, pockets, zippers, cups or bonded details
  • Multiple branding placements
  • Custom labels and packaging
